Louise Fenn, Practice Manager, Nowell Meller Solicitors, Stafford
I'm the practice manager. I've been here 35 years, started off as an office junior and just worked up. Nowell Meller's been established since 1956 and we're based in Stafford. In 2005, we went from a partnership to a limited company.
So as long as I've been here, we've had another two companies that we've worked with. They couldn't help us anymore because our system was so dated and due to financial constraints, et cetera, we couldn't upgrade at that point. We couldn't afford the all singing, all dancing IT systems. We were focusing on the staff. So IT sort of took a bit of a backseat.
There was a lot of IT issues. A lot of time was spent because of IT issues. We didn't have somebody in house. It was kind of me and Steve that what we've learned along the way and patching things over with a plaster really. The call centre, you pretty much got somebody different every time. There wasn't the personable approach with the previous ones.
We're local, which is a huge bonus point. It seemed like they were interested in working with us to move forward with our IT, making suggestions. Local firm, friendly, innovative, want to work with us. So it was like, "Yeah, let's give them a go."
I think I pretty much know all of them and they're really friendly. So you feel like you know them and that makes such a difference.
We've switched to 3CX, which is our telephone system, that all went over really smoothly. We moved offices recently, last November, and it was a huge job, obviously, to move the IT over to here. And we had a few bumps along the way, which I think were out of anyone's control, sort of, third parties involved. But Ben managed that project, and managed it really well.
The extra things that EPX IT have in place for cyber security, the phishing exercises, we've never had any of that before. The stats that Ben gives us when it comes to the quarterly meetings, again, something we've never had before.
Just do it. Yeah, absolutely. We haven't looked back. It's been nothing but good things for us. Like I say, everyone has blips. Everyone has moments where they're frustrated, especially with IT. But everything that we've gone through with EPX IT, moving into the office, the telephone switchover, can't fault them at all.
