Be Aware of "Free Cadbury Easter Basket’ Scam Circles Whatsapp And Facebook

Recently, we have seen a new Phishing attack circulating via WhatsApp, designed to trick you into giving away personal information for later financial & identity-theft attacks.

If you see the "Free Cadbury Easter Basket" message (often including a "TinyURL" link and a pleasant picture of a purple chocolate egg), please avoid it, warn the sender (if you know them), and do not circulate the message.

These messages started earlier today. (We've had 3 reported in the last hour alone).

You will generally receive the message from an existing trusted contact - who will usually have no idea that they were ever sent.

Cadbury has confirmed that the post has nothing to do with them and asked people not to interact with it.

Chocolate - apparently - is a sure-fire way to make people lower their guard.

In May 2020, there was an almost identical scam, promoting a Cadbury hamper.

These kinds of scams always increase at major public holidays or media events, so do always be on your guard, and let us know if you have any questions.

Please remember - ALWAYS be wary of clicking on links sent by WhatsApp, Facebook, Email, or other communications - especially if you weren't expecting a message.JTNDZGl2JTIwaWQlM0QlMjJzbGlkZUJ1dHRvbiUyMiUyMGNsYXNzJTNEJTIyc2lkZS1idXR0b24lMjIlM0VDb250YWN0JTIwVXMlM0MlMkZkaXYlM0U=
