Working remotely has become the new norm, blurring the lines between our professional and personal lives. At EPX, we've found a way to bridge this gap and inject a dose of cuteness and joy into our workdays. We celebrate "Bring Your Dog to Work Day" at EPX, a celebration that not only brings smiles to our faces but also enhances employee health and wellness. The purpose of this blog post is to explore the adorable furry friends that grace our virtual meetings and explore their positive impact on our team's happiness.
The Cuteness Overload
The sight of our colleagues' four-legged companions joining our virtual workspace is undeniably heartwarming. A cuteness overload is inevitable when it comes to puppies and older dogs alike. The furry coworkers have the magical ability to turn a regular video conference into a delightful spectacle, instantly lifting everyone's spirits. It's hard to resist the positive energy our dogs bring with tails wagging and adorable faces peeping into the camera.
Meet Bertie, the admin wiz that is too cute to say 'no' to. Bertie is Claire's companion and we can never resist him.
Stress Relief and Improved Mental Health
We all know that interacting with dogs can calm us down and reduce our stress levels. Even virtually, bringing our dogs to work provides a welcome break from the challenges of remote work. Petting our furry friends or playing with them can instantly melt away tension, allowing us to return to our work with renewed focus and clarity. In addition, dog presence reduces blood pressure, decreases anxiety, and increases feelings of happiness and wellbeing. The mental health of EPX employees is positively affected by our canine co-workers.
These are Luca and Cosmo, two 4-year-old border collies that get to be daily babysat by our Engineer Matt Forster. While Luca is smart and active, always looking for something to do (and constantly following Matt around), Cosmo is quite the opposite - a bit lazy but always excited to see their favourite engineer. They both love to run like maniacs and to jump in any muddy puddles they find.
Increased Social Bonding
In a remote work environment, building social connections and fostering a sense of camaraderie can be challenging. When pets are present during our virtual meetings, it creates an instant icebreaker and a topic of conversation. By exchanging funny stories and pet care tips, colleagues strengthen their bonds, which facilitates a more connected and supportive work environment. Our furry friends become the common thread that brings us closer together, making our workdays more enjoyable and fulfilling.
Boost in Productivity and Creativity
Studies have shown that pets can actually boost productivity, contrary to the belief that they could disrupt it. EPX employees are most engaged and satisfied when dogs are present on the premises. Dogs are a great source of inspiration and creativity and serve as a welcome distraction from the monotony of work. Our focus and productivity are improved when we take breaks, go for walks, and clear our minds.
Teddy, Poppy and Winston are three Golden Retrievers with very different personalities! Poppy and Winston love to run and be active whilst Teddy prefers to go for a walk next our Marketing Exec, Maria. She might get to see them once a week for cuddles, but we want more!
