Shropshire County Show and Staffordshire County Show are two of the biggest events in the area, attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year - and we are proud to support both.

Rural shows are an important fixture on the calendar, bringing communities together to celebrate the very best of what country life is all about … oh, and by the way, they also provide some pretty impressive entertainment too!

A huge event attracting thousands of visitors, hundreds of traders and countless livestock, of all shapes and sizes, takes a monumental effort and the creation of a special village each year to ensure everything goes off as it should, and the team here at PC Net and EPX are incredibly proud to be part of that village for both the Shropshire and Staffordshire County Shows.

Shropshire County Show

Held on Saturday May 27 this year, Shropshire County Show produced a wide variety of entertainment and activities packed into a single day for visitors to enjoy at the West Mid Showground in Shrewsbury.

The Shropshire County Agricultural Show was launched in the late 19th century and is run by the Shropshire and West Midlands Agricultural Society. The agricultural world has seen many changes and innovations in the years since but the Shropshire County Show, as it is known these days, has always kept pace with the times and expanded and adapted to meet the expectations of its audience.

This year’s show featured thrilling main ring attractions, an array of livestock classes, a hugely popular Youth Zone and the amazing spectacle of a flypast courtesy of the World War ll Battle of Britain Memorial flight.

Staffordshire County Show

Dating back more than 200 years, Staffordshire County Show was held over two days on May 31 and June 1 at the vast showground on Weston Road, Stafford. A mid-week event which benefits from taking place during the half-term week for schools.

The showground boasts more than 10,000 square metres of exhibition space and the show is set in specific areas including: food hall, woodland, craft fair, country pursuits and main ring attractions.

Like the Shropshire show, Staffordshire maintained its tradition of producing top quality livestock classes - so important within a rural community, and for the first time this year hosted the West Lancs Dog Display team. Other attractions to Weston Road included the Bolddog Lings Motorcycle Display team, showjumping, the Quack Pack and giant tortoises.

Supporting large infrastructures

Neither event has lost any appeal judging by attendances and feedback we got from many of the visitors and exhibitors on show days. It is important that shows like these are supported by the public and businesses and we are delighted to be a part of them.

Part of our involvement with the Shropshire and West Midlands Agricultural Society has seen us improve WIFI across the West Mid Showground with WIFI hotspots put in place to allow everyone - team members, visitors, traders, caterers and so on - the important access they need.

It came about when the society was looking for a managed service provider to look after the ongoing running of phones, IT systems, internet and IT infrastructure - and we were delighted to help by providing the solutions necessary to maintain the smooth running of the showground.
